St. Kitts & Nevis - Introduction
The Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis is also known as the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis in its constitution. It has been independent since 1983 and is a part of Lesser Antilles Islands, about 2000 km southeast of Miami. The Federation is composed of two islands, separately known as Nevis with an area of about 93.2 km2 area and St. Kitts with an area of 168.4 km2. The official and business language is English. The Federation is a member state of the United Nations (UN), the Organization of American States (OAS), the Commonwealth, the Caribbean Community and many other international organizations. With its headquarterin St. Kitts, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank maintains the stability of East Caribbean dollar (EC$), which is the currency of most Eastern Caribbean countries and is pegged to US dollars. St. Kitts and Nevis is a democratic country, adopting British parliamentary system with King Charles III as its Head of State.
 
Although less important in tourism industryas compared with other Caribbean countries, St. Kitts and Nevis has many fine white sandy beaches, splendid mountainous sceneries. The tropical climate is nearly perfect. The country is a tropical paradise because of different types of soil generated in different latitude. St. Kitts has an elaborately designed golf course between the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean. Nevis also has a desirable golf course. The local tourism bureau has a very appropriate slogan: “Two islands, a paradise”.
